Congratulations to Miss Harris
We are delighted to share the lovely news that Miss Harris has welcomed her baby girl.
Baby Martha Rose was born on Saturday 8 May, weighing 7lb 4oz. Miss Harris and her family are all doing well and are enjoying these first few days together.
Many of you will know that Miss Harris began her maternity leave earlier this term, and the children were very excited to hear that the baby had arrived safely.
I’m sure you’ll join us in sending Miss Harris and her family our warmest congratulations.

Year 2 visit to Brunel’s SS Great Britain
Hopefully you’ve now received the letter that was sent home earlier this week about the Year 2 visit to Brunel’s SS Great Britain.
The trip will take place on Wednesday 17 June and will support the children’s current history topic, Bridges, Boats and Bristol. During the visit, Year 2 will explore one of Bristol’s most famous landmarks and learn more about Brunel, ships and life in the city in the past.
Please return the permission slip by Friday 5 June. The letter also includes details about packed lunches, the voluntary contribution and the option to let us know if you are available to help on the day.
If you missed the letter, you can download a copy below.
Emma Radley story-writing workshops
We’re excited to welcome Emma Radley to our school next week. Emma is the author of the Mosswood Mysteries series, a set of funny, fast-paced adventure stories about a group of friends who keep stumbling into odd goings-on in their local woodland.
Emma will be running an interactive workshop with Year 4, looking at how writers:
- turn a simple idea into a story plot
- build suspense
- choose vocabulary that makes a scene feel real
Emma will be happy to sign copies of her books, so bring them along on the day if you have them (or there’s still time to pick up a copy from Storyville on the high street).
